The Hobsonville run
On Sunday the 26th of May, some of the running club kids did the Hobsonville run. The run was at the Hobsonville point. There was a 3km event and a 5km event. I was doing the 3km event. Once the Waikowhai Primary kids arrived, Ms Sands our running coach and class teacher gave us a special shirt. It was navy blue with a stripe of yellow on the sleeves and neck. at the back it said WAIKOWHAI in bold capital letters (also yellow) There was a sticker on the front of the shirt saying a number with three digits on it. Once the race was about to begin, you had to tie a little electric chip to your shoe. That little chip could say exactly how long it took you to run the race.
There was a man near the start. He had a hand horn. Once he pressed it, we were off. We ran on the pathway and through the bush. After 15 minutes, I had reached the finish line. I was given a gold medal with a yellow ribbon. My friend Abigail got a medal just like mine. After receiving the medal, we all relaxed and went over to Ms Sands. She gave us our results. I had come 6th out of 62 people. Abigail had come 5th out of 62 people. there were ice blocks and ice creams for sale as well as hot dogs and burgers.
I was proud of myself and thought that I would do the 5km next time.
Hola Ama! This is your friend Abigail. I red your blog and it blew my mind!
ReplyDeleteThank you for mentioning the yummy stuff there! I noticed that there were some missing full stops though. The rest were cool!
